Everythings Better With Bunnies

Cute cuddly bunnies!  The Lexington Humane Society has a few that are looking for their forever homes.

The top photo is Bunnicula - an extremely sweet female.  She enjoyed being held, and snuggling in the nitch of your arm.  Those bright white whiskers!  They just pop off her black nose.   She's active, curious and absolutely sweet and friendly.  I could have held her for hours...

The softest bunny I've EVER felt (EVER!) was Bugs...

Bugs has a cool tortoise shell coloring.  Her fur is short and has the feel of velvet.  She's a pretty, outgoing and curious bunny.  She was hopping all around the "Get Acquainted" room at the Lexington Humane Society.  She was very busy grooming herself to perfection.  Diva?

Finally,  I couldn't resist photographing this cutie!

His name is Snowdrop.  He has the most fabulous face!

Snowdrop was  a little shy in front of the camera but slowly came out of his shell to investigate.

The Lexington Humane Society has all kinds of furry friends looking for homes.  Bugs, Bunnicula and Snowdrop are only a few of the many cute and loving creatures looking for their forever homes.

These bunnies have been spayed/neutered and are ready to be adopted. Won't you Adopt Love at the Lexington Humane Society?

Beastly Fun Ball

There's No Place Like Home...

That was the byline at the Wizard of Pawz themed 2011 Lexington Humane Society's Beastie Ball.

Everyone was there including the Tin Man and Toto.

Well maybe not everyone.  I did not find any wicked witches or flying monkeys in the course of the evening fun.

As people arrived, they walked down the yellow brick road and had their photo taken with Dorothy and Toto.

Guests continued to follow the yellow brick road towards the Emerald City and along the way, they passed the hundreds of item up for auction.  There were lots of great holiday gift ideas available in the auctions whether it be live, silent or super silent auctions.  Some people went away with wonderful finds such as a vacation to St. Lucia!

Dinner was served inside the Emerald City.  A few of Toto's friends (who are up for adoption) hung out with the scarecrow and other characters of the Wizard of Pawz during dinner.

and then the live auction began...

The bidding was lively and fun!

After the live auction, Joey and the Cruisers began to play and everyone streamed out onto the dance floor.

The night was fun and ultimately for all the adoptable pets at the Lexington Humane Society, there will be no place like home...

Thanks to the supporters of the Lexington Humane Society and please think about the LHS when you look for your next pet and Adopt Love!

Lovable Fun Fall Kitties

Fall is a fun time if you're a cat.  There's nothing like pouncing on the falling leaves and hiding in leaf piles in the yard.  Fun, fun, fun when you're a cat!!

The Lexington Humane Society has many kitties waiting for their forever homes where they can play in leaf piles.   Today I'm showcasing two friendly males who have been hanging around long enough.

First is Bah Bah.  He's about 4.5 yrs old.  He's slightly shy but gets over his shyness very quickly.   Once he's over his shyness he wanted to nestle in and snuggle.

Bah Bah has pretty black and white unique markings which makes him stand out from the other cats.  He loved a scratch under his chin and around his neck.  He has a sweet face and kind eyes to go along with his mellow and sweet personality.  He has a career in being a lap cat ahead of him for sure.  He was certainly good for the camera!

Our other subject was Caesar.  Caesar is a polar opposite of Bah Bah...

Caesar is a 1 yr old male tabby cat.  He is outgoing, curious and full of action.  Let's just say he was a little bit tougher to photograph because he was on the go checking everything out.

Caesar shared a loving personality with Bah Bah.   Caesar loved to be held and you can even rub his belly.  He's a favorite among the volunteers at The Lexington Humane Society because of his infectious personality.  He's guaranteed to put a grin on your face.  That's why I'm surprised he's been at the LHS for about 190 days!  This guy is born to love a family and keep smiles on their faces!!

If you're looking for a fun cat like Caesar or a loving cat to keep your lap warm in winter like Bah Bah, look no further than the Lexington Humane Society and ADOPT LOVE today!!

Grand Openings!

Big News coming out of the Lexington Humane Society and PetSmart Charities!!  Tomorrow is their Grand Opening of an enhanced permanent pet-adoption center inside the Hamburg Crossing PetSmart store in Lexington.   It's only the 7th of its kind in the United States!

The Lexington Humane Society has always been strong with in store adoptions.  In fact, they were ranked #1 with in store adoptions across the country and currently they are ranked 2nd in the country!  And those numbers will only go up with this new state of the art pet adoption center inside of a PetSmart Store. Having a permanent in store adoption center, with it's "Meet & Greet" area and dog play area, the Lexington Humane Society expects to adopt up to 500 more pets every year!  500 more!  That's a lot of love!

This 1900 square foot in store adoption center has been completely funded by PetSmart Charities and PetSmart is not charging the Lexington Humane Society a dime for using it.   LHS, in turn, provides the adoptable pets and the staff needed to run the adoption center which is open during regular store hours.

From left to right is Madison, Carrie and Susan Malcomb (President of Lexington Humane Society) with one very cute chihuahua looking for a family to call her own.

What's also great about this facility is that it extends the reach of the adoption center to another part of the Lexington area.

While I was there, I wound up seeing some of my buddies from my previous visits to the main adoption center for LHS.  I saw Enzo...

And Enzo was in the dog play area with my other buddy Prancer!

Prancer was having a heck of a fun time playing with Enzo in the dog play area.   The play area is great because of the glass walls!  People in the store could see how much fun Prancer and Enzo were having with their buddies.

I met a few more new friends too like Bear who should be named "Teddy Bear" because of his sweet demeanor

And Chase who loved to chase the ball in the play area...

Chase was playing with a pit bull mom named Baby Girl.  Baby Girl came to LHS with a litter of puppies.  All her puppies have been adopted so now it's her turn to find a loving home.

Baby Girl was a bit camera shy... but super sweet!

There were many people checking out the kittens and dogs looking for new homes in the state of the art facility

And best of all, while I was there this little guy found a family he could call his own.  Such a sweet face!

There's no greater feeling than when you Adopt Love!

Congrats to the Lexington Humane Society and PetSmart Charities for helping the homeless pets in Lexington, Kentucky!

Enzo And So Many Other Cute Faces

The Lexington Humane Society is full of cute faces looking for their forever homes.  Like Abe...

Abe is a dachshund who was left behind by his owners when they abandoned their home.   Abe and his brother Moses (a min pin) were found locked inside the house.  They were not in good condition when they were found but with love and care from the Lexington Humane Society, they are back in great health!  The two are very optimistic and keep hoping that each passerby will be the one who stops to love on them and take them to their new forever homes.

There's Prancer too - a cute miniature pinscher mix about 4 yrs old.  Super sweet, loves other dogs, and has a very cool white streak down his back.  He just doesn't have much patience for young children.

When I entered the front doors to LHS I was greeted by my buddy Peaches  who was hanging out in the cattery.   I guess she fell asleep while looking out the window.  She has relaxation down to a science.

But on this day, I went to the Lexington Humane Society to photograph Enzo.

Enzo was found wandering around the streets of San Francisco downtown Lexington.  He was taken to the Lexington Humane Society this past February.  The LHS guesses his breeding to be part lovebug and part entertainer.  Ok so what they have on the card is Spitz/Sharpei but I just don't see it and really it's anyone's guess.  They estimate his age to be 4.5 yrs old.  He's not a big guy but he's not a toy size either.  And it's evident that he never misses a meal.  In fact, he will work for food - he has a great repertoire of tricks he likes to do for a treat.   What we also know for a fact is that he has the sweetest face on the planet and two ears that have minds of their own.

I think he'd look great in someone's back yard hanging out

Come on out to the Lexington Humane Society and meet Enzo for yourself.  Be sure to say a hello to the others like Abe, Prancer and Peaches.  So many sweet faces and personalities just waiting to smother their own person with love.

More info on Enzo can be found here.
