Grand Openings!

Big News coming out of the Lexington Humane Society and PetSmart Charities!!  Tomorrow is their Grand Opening of an enhanced permanent pet-adoption center inside the Hamburg Crossing PetSmart store in Lexington.   It's only the 7th of its kind in the United States!

The Lexington Humane Society has always been strong with in store adoptions.  In fact, they were ranked #1 with in store adoptions across the country and currently they are ranked 2nd in the country!  And those numbers will only go up with this new state of the art pet adoption center inside of a PetSmart Store. Having a permanent in store adoption center, with it's "Meet & Greet" area and dog play area, the Lexington Humane Society expects to adopt up to 500 more pets every year!  500 more!  That's a lot of love!

This 1900 square foot in store adoption center has been completely funded by PetSmart Charities and PetSmart is not charging the Lexington Humane Society a dime for using it.   LHS, in turn, provides the adoptable pets and the staff needed to run the adoption center which is open during regular store hours.

From left to right is Madison, Carrie and Susan Malcomb (President of Lexington Humane Society) with one very cute chihuahua looking for a family to call her own.

What's also great about this facility is that it extends the reach of the adoption center to another part of the Lexington area.

While I was there, I wound up seeing some of my buddies from my previous visits to the main adoption center for LHS.  I saw Enzo...

And Enzo was in the dog play area with my other buddy Prancer!

Prancer was having a heck of a fun time playing with Enzo in the dog play area.   The play area is great because of the glass walls!  People in the store could see how much fun Prancer and Enzo were having with their buddies.

I met a few more new friends too like Bear who should be named "Teddy Bear" because of his sweet demeanor

And Chase who loved to chase the ball in the play area...

Chase was playing with a pit bull mom named Baby Girl.  Baby Girl came to LHS with a litter of puppies.  All her puppies have been adopted so now it's her turn to find a loving home.

Baby Girl was a bit camera shy... but super sweet!

There were many people checking out the kittens and dogs looking for new homes in the state of the art facility

And best of all, while I was there this little guy found a family he could call his own.  Such a sweet face!

There's no greater feeling than when you Adopt Love!

Congrats to the Lexington Humane Society and PetSmart Charities for helping the homeless pets in Lexington, Kentucky!

Enzo And So Many Other Cute Faces

The Lexington Humane Society is full of cute faces looking for their forever homes.  Like Abe...

Abe is a dachshund who was left behind by his owners when they abandoned their home.   Abe and his brother Moses (a min pin) were found locked inside the house.  They were not in good condition when they were found but with love and care from the Lexington Humane Society, they are back in great health!  The two are very optimistic and keep hoping that each passerby will be the one who stops to love on them and take them to their new forever homes.

There's Prancer too - a cute miniature pinscher mix about 4 yrs old.  Super sweet, loves other dogs, and has a very cool white streak down his back.  He just doesn't have much patience for young children.

When I entered the front doors to LHS I was greeted by my buddy Peaches  who was hanging out in the cattery.   I guess she fell asleep while looking out the window.  She has relaxation down to a science.

But on this day, I went to the Lexington Humane Society to photograph Enzo.

Enzo was found wandering around the streets of San Francisco downtown Lexington.  He was taken to the Lexington Humane Society this past February.  The LHS guesses his breeding to be part lovebug and part entertainer.  Ok so what they have on the card is Spitz/Sharpei but I just don't see it and really it's anyone's guess.  They estimate his age to be 4.5 yrs old.  He's not a big guy but he's not a toy size either.  And it's evident that he never misses a meal.  In fact, he will work for food - he has a great repertoire of tricks he likes to do for a treat.   What we also know for a fact is that he has the sweetest face on the planet and two ears that have minds of their own.

I think he'd look great in someone's back yard hanging out

Come on out to the Lexington Humane Society and meet Enzo for yourself.  Be sure to say a hello to the others like Abe, Prancer and Peaches.  So many sweet faces and personalities just waiting to smother their own person with love.

More info on Enzo can be found here.
